Maleic Anhydride
- Available in white solid or colorless form, Maleic Anhydride is organic compound with high polarity level and acid like smell. It is manufactured as a result of oxidation of butane or benzene. As a dicarboxylic acid anyhydride, this organic compound reacts with amines and C2H5OH for producing amides and esters respectively. Maleic Anhydride is reckoned for its multipurpose applications. It is required to formulate unsaturated polyester resin which is one of the main raw materials for manufacturing FRP. It is also used to compose lubricants, corrosion inhibitors and surfactants.
